MATERIALS MANAGER (Posted 11/28/11)
Lead the Supply Chain team that is responsible for the planning and procurement of materials, material and information flow, and the management and control of inventory in achieving the business objectives. Production Planning:
- Responsible for the Master Scheduling function and materials through the production cycle to assure high on-time delivery performance.
- Works with Operations Manager to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
- Works with Operations Manager to develop models for plant capacity, materials requirement, and labor forecasting in support of Sales and Operations Planning cycle.Inventory Management:
- Monitors Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods for materials availability, financial tracking and in support of company goals.
- Develop and execute inventory cycle count process to assure high inventory accuracies.
- Lead periodic physical inventory processPurchasing/Supply Chain:
- Work directly with suppliers & corporate procurement to assure a best quality, lowest cost reliable supply chain
- Oversees secondary level material procurement/purchasing activities to assure all corporate control policies are met.ERP System Expert:
- Provide systems expertise to the site in terms of effective use of our ERP system (Syteline, Oracle).
- Provide ongoing support to areas subject matter experts on the effective use of the ERP system.
- Lead Lean initiatives utilizing the ERP system to streamline the overall materials management process
- Additional duties as requiredOther:
- Attend Value Stream operational review meetings and update the site leadership team on key materials, purchasing & planning issues.
- Drive daily continuous improvement by taking a leadership role in lean procurement (VMI, Consignment, Kanbans) and manufacturing.
- Actively participate in/lead site improvement initiatives including Lean implementation and Kaizen eventsSupervisory Responsibilities:
- Represents Supply Chain as well as ERP & the Materials function on the Site Leadership Team.
- Provides direct daily supervision of Buyer/Planners, Master Scheduler, Material Handling, and Inventory Control staff including Shipping and Receiving FunctionsRequired:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, business or related field
2. 8-10 years of experience in materials management in a manufacturing environment; min. of 5 years of supervisory experienceCompetencies Required:
